Abstract
The Singapore Input-Output (I-O) Tables provide a comprehensive and integrated framework for the derivation and reconciliation of key national accounts aggregrates.  The I-O tables contain detailed information on the intricate relations among the various economic sectors.  They are used for a variety of purposes: cross-validating the data from diverse sources; impact studies; policy formulation and evaluation.  The wealth of information embodied in the I-O tbales ensures its usefulness and relevance not only for the compilation of the national accounts but also for policy evaluation and formulation.

This report is the fifth set of I-O Tables published by the Department.   Besides providing valuable summary information for 9 industrial sectors and commodities, this report also explains and illustrates the powerful analytical capability of the I-O tables.  A feature article, The Economic Contribution of Tourism to Singapore, is included in the report.  By analysing the economic contribution of tourism to Singapore for the period from 1993 to 1995, this article illustrates the analytical potential of the I-O tables.  To faciliate the use of the I-O tables by researchers and analysts, the full set of tables (with 173 industries and commodities) has been made available on diskettes by the Department.
