DISTRIBUTION OF DENTISTS BY PUBLIC HOUSING ESTATE

Do you know…

that there were only 3 dentists1 practising in Bukit Panjang Housing Estate as at the end of 1999? The estate also had the highest residents to dentist ratio - 1 dentist for every 27,100 residents. Tampines had the most number of dentists - 32. However, residents in the Marine Parade Housing Estate were the most well-served, with the lowest residents to dentist ratio. There was 1 dentist for every 3,000 Marine Parade residents.

Some 44 per cent of the 688 private sector dentists in 1999 had their practice in public housing estates. The remaining 56 per cent were concentrated in the CBD and other areas.
