UPGRADING OF OCCUPATIONAL STRUCTURE
Do you know…
that more workers are in highly skilled occupations?
Economic restructuring and the improvement in educational attainment over time have led to occupational shifts in the employment structure of the resident workforce. A higher proportion of the resident workforce was in the more highly skilled occupational groups in 2000. Professionals and technical workers comprised 29 per cent, up from 18 per cent in 1990 (Table 1). There was also an increase in the proportion holding administrative and managerial jobs.
