The Singapore Department of Statistics has adopted the Singapore Standard Industrial Classification (SSIC) 2005 in the National Accounts. With this, macro-economic statistics will be compiled and provided in accordance with SSIC 2005.
The information paper titled “Adoption of SSIC 2005 in the National Accounts: New Reporting Format for Output-Based GDP” (103kb) introduces a new reporting format which will be used for the presentation of output-based GDP estimates with effect from the Annual Economic Survey of Singapore 2006. The new format introduces two ‘new’ industries, “Transport and Storage” and “Information and Communications”, in place of “Transport and Communications”. As such, output-based GDP estimates will be reported by ten major industries instead of nine in the present format. The paper also discusses the re-compilation of GDP estimates on the basis of SSIC 2005. |
