With the rising importance of Singapore as a regional business and financial centre, there has been a growing interest and demand to track the services sector on a short-term basis. Consequently, the Department has undertaken the compilation of a new series known as the Quarterly Business Receipts Index (QBRI) for service industries.

The QBRI provides a current indicator for monitoring the performance of this sector. In addition to the overall index, separate indices for major service industries such as transport, post and telecommunications, financial, professional and business services are also compiled.
