The Singapore Department of Statistics has completed the rebasing of the Singapore Manufactured Products Price Index and Domestic Supply Price Index to base year 2006. The rebasing of these indices is conducted periodically to ensure that the coverage of commodities and the weighting structure of these indices are representative of the current production and domestic supply patterns. In the 2006 rebasing exercise, methodological changes were introduced to enhance the accuracy of the price indices and facilitate the early completion of the 2006 rebasing exercise.

The information paper titled "Rebasing and Revision of the Singapore Manufactured Products & Domestic Supply Price Indices (Base Year 2006 = 100)" (220kb) provides an overview of the concepts, methodology and survey coverage of the 2006-based price indices. A comparison of the weighting patterns and trends of the 2006-based price indices with those of the 2000-based series is also presented.
