Cinema (Digital)

A place that primarily engages in the commercial projection of cinematographic or audiovisual works in digital format. All major cinemas in Singapore uses digital projection.

Film

Also known as a movie or motion picture, film refers to an applied art form where a deliberate sequence of moving images, almost always accompanied by audio (sound/music), is presented on a screen, designed to stimulate experiences that communicate stories, ideas, and perspectives. ‘Film’ as a term is also used to describe the object deriving from this art form.

Performing arts

Refer to folk, traditional, classical, contemporary and popular forms of dance, music and theatre performances. Community arts and cultural events such as cultural festivals and district arts festivals are included. Performing arts events may be held live, accessed digitally through electronic media or the Internet, or be held in a hybrid format with both in-person and digital modes of access. Digital performing arts events include formats such as live-streamed performances and streaming pre-recorded videos of performances etc. Events such as book launches, competitions, conferences, masterclasses, workshops etc are excluded.

Visual arts

Refer to public exhibitions of abstract or representational art objects such as paintings, prints, sculpture, pottery, ceramics, creative photography, installation art and multi-media art. Applied arts like film, video, graphic design, fashion design, jewellery design and handicrafts are excluded. Visual art exhibitions may be held in-person, accessed digitally through electronic media or the Internet e.g. a virtual exhibition, or be held in a hybrid format with both in-person and digital modes of access.
