Overview

Data on ownership/ availability of consumer durables and assets are based on the results from the quinquennial Household Expenditure Survey (HES). The HES collects detailed information on the consumption expenditure of resident households in Singapore, as well as households’ demographic and socio-economic characteristics and ownership/ availability of consumer durables.

Report on the Household Expenditure Survey 2023

In 2023, Singapore resident households’ average monthly household income from all sources rose to $15,473, up from $12,661 in 2017/18 or by 4.1 per cent per annum. Households spent an average of $5,931 a month, an increase of 2.8 per cent per annum from the $5,163 in 2017/18. Income growth outpaced expenditure growth.
