Definitions
Data refer to the proportion of solid waste collected and managed in authorised facilities out of total solid waste generated by Singapore.
Concepts
General waste are collected by licensed waste collectors and transported to Waste-to-Energy plants, to be incinerated and generate electricity. The resulting ash is then transported to Semakau landfill to be landfilled. Recyclable waste are also collected by licensed waste collectors and sent to licensed facilities to be processed for local recycling or export.
