Data refer to the number of Protection Order (PO) cases filed with Protection from Harassment Court (PHC) and Magistrate's Complaints filed for alleged Protection from Harassment Act Offences.

Concepts

There are various avenues through which individuals who have experienced harassment, including physical or sexual, can seek remedies under the Protection from Harassment Act (POHA). The avenues include filing a Protection Order case with the Protection from Harassment Court (PHC) that was operationalised on 1 June 2021, and filing a Magistrate's Complaint.
Protection Order Cases refer to Civil (non-monetary) cases filed with the Protection from Harassment Court seeking Protection Orders from harassment, stalking, cyberbullying and other behaviours that cause (or are likely to cause) harassment, alarm or distress, as specified in the Protection from Harassment Act (POHA). Magistrate’s Complaints refer to an application to a magistrate to inquire into an alleged offence committed under the Protection from Harassment Act (POHA) and give directions for further action.
