Proportion of children aged 1–17 years who experienced any physical punishment and/or psychological aggression by caregivers in the past month

The Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) has measures to detect, identify, and report abuse. The 'Break the Silence' campaign, refreshed in 2024, encourages everyone to play their part in stopping violence. To make reporting easier, the National Anti-Violence and Sexual Harassment Helpline was enhanced in 2022 with an online reporting form. The Domestic Violence Awareness Training trained over 11,000 individuals, including professionals who work with children, how to spot and report abuse.

Legislative protection for abused children was also strengthened. The Women's Charter was amended in 2023 to introduce Stay Away and No Contact Orders, and the Children and Young Persons Act was amended in 2019 to extend protection to abused children aged 16 to below 18 years, up from below 16 previously.
