Concepts

Acute hepatitis B is defined as the presence of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) or hepatitis B virus nucleic acid, accompanied by anti-HBc IgM antibodies, in a patient presenting with acute clinical symptoms consistent with hepatitis.
