Definitions

Data refer to the daily smoking prevalence among residents (i.e., Singapore citizens and permanent residents) aged 18-74 years, age-standardised to World Health Organisation (WHO) World Standard Population.

Concepts

Tobacco use is defined as the use of smoked and/or smokeless tobacco products. Daily smoking prevalence refer to the use of smoked cigarettes only.

Computational Method

(Weighted number of daily smokers) / (Weighted number of sampled persons, and age-standardised to WHO World Standard Population) x 100%

Data Collection

Representative sample and cross-sectional population based survey are from the National Population Health Survey. MOH outsourced survey fieldwork to a surveyor vendor and analysis was done inhouse.
