Definitions

Data from 2021 onwards refer to the proportion of residents (i.e., Singapore citizens and permanent residents) aged 16-74 years of the specified sex who have undertaken any of the specified information and communications technology (ICT)-related activities. Data prior to 2021 refer to the proportion of residents aged 15 years and above of the specified sex who have undertaken any of the specified ICT-related activities.

Concepts

The indicator refers to individuals that have undertaken certain computer-related activities and/or engaged in internet activities for private purposes in the last three months, regardless of location or devices used. Data are based on the available corresponding skills collected for each year, according to the SDG Indicator Metadata, whether they are selected or not.

Computational Method

(Number of residents of the specified age group and sex who have undertaken the specified ICT-related activities) / (Number of residents of the corresponding age group and sex) x 100%

Disaggregation

Disaggregation is available by sex, age groups (16-24 years and 25-74 years) and type of skills.

Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA)

Data Collection

IMDA conducts the annual Survey on Infocomm Usage in Households and by Individuals. The objective of the Survey is to assess the extent of infocomm adoption in Singapore resident households and residents.
Prior to 2021, data are collected via face-to-face interviews through an outsourced vendor commissioned by IMDA. From 2021 onwards, data are collected via a combination of face-to-face interviews and online surveys through an outsourced vendor commissioned by IMDA.
