Definitions

(a) Data for electricity refer to regularly and readily available sources of power that enable the adequate and sustainable use of ICT infrastructure for educational purposes.
(b) Data for Internet for pedagogical use refer to internet that is available for enhancing teaching and learning and is accessible by students.
(c) Data for computers for pedagogical use refer to use of computers to support course delivery or independent teaching and learning needs.
(d) Data for adapted infrastructure refer to any built environment related to education facilities that are accessible to all users, including those with different types of disability, to be able to gain access to use and exit from them. Adapted materials include learning materials and assistive products that enable students and teachers with disabilities/functioning limitations to access learning and to participate fully in the school environment.
(e) Data for basic drinking water refer to functional improved drinking water source on or near the premises and water points accessible to all users during school hours.
(f) Data for basic sanitation facilities refer to functional improved sanitation facilities separated for males and females on or near the premises.
(g) Data for basic handwashing facilities refer to functional handwashing facilities, with soap and water available to all girls and boy.

Concepts

The indicator measures access in schools to key basic services and facilities necessary to ensure a safe and effective learning environment for all students.

(Number of schools in specified level of education with access to the specified basic services and facilities) / (Total number of schools in specified level of education) x 100%

Disaggregation

Disaggregation is available by type of basic services and facilities (electricity, internet for pedagogical use, computer for pedagogical use, adapted infrastructure, basic drinking water, single-sex basic sanitation facilities, and basic handwashing facilities) and education level (primary and secondary (total, lower and upper)).
