Data refer to the proportion of contributing family workers among employed residents (i.e., Singapore citizens and permanent residents) who assist in the operation of family business without receiving regular wages or salaries.

Concepts

Singapore is a highly formalised economy where vast majority of workers are afforded regulatory oversight and employment protection by comprehensive labour laws and regulation.
A proxy is based on the proportion of contributing family workers among employed residents (i.e., Singapore citizens and permanent residents). Following the International Labour Organisation (ILO)'s definition of informal employment, contributing family workers are informally employed, regardless of whether they work in the formal or informal sector.

(Number of contributing family workers of specific sex ) / (Number of employed residents of corresponding sex) x 100%
