On a month-on-month basis, the Domestic Supply Price Index (DSPI) rose 7.3% in Sep 2026, its third consecutive monthly increase and a notable gain from the 2.4% and 4.1% increases in Jul and Aug 2026 respectively. The Oil index increased 15.9%, accelerating from the 4.7% growth in Aug 2026 and marking its third straight month of gains. The Non-oil index rose 4.1% in Sep 2026, continuing the increases in recent months.

On a year-on-year basis, the DSPI posted a steep gain of 48.0% in Sep 2026, up from the 38.8% increase in Aug 2026, extending the strong growth seen in recent months. The Oil index rose 78.9% in Sep 2026, sharply accelerating from the 57.4% increase in Aug 2026. The Non-oil index rose 38.2% in Sep 2026, up from a 33.0% increase in Aug 2026, with the pace of increase accelerating in recent months.

The month-on-month and year-on-year increases in the SMPPI and DSPI Oil indices were mainly due to higher prices of petroleum and petroleum products. The increases in the SMPPI and DSPI Non-oil indices were mainly driven by higher prices of electrical machinery apparatus such as electronic integrated circuits.

About this Publication

The Singapore Manufactured Products Price Index (SMPPI) monitors price changes of locally manufactured commodities. The weights of the index are derived from the distribution of local production by commodity in 2022. Ex-factory prices are obtained from principal manufacturers of the items concerned.

The Domestic Supply Price Index (DSPI) is designed to measure the changes in the price level of either commodities manufactured locally or imported, which are retained for use in the domestic economy by the government, business or household sectors. For imported products, the prices refer to those paid by importers in bringing the commodities into Singapore, commonly referred to as CIF prices. In the case of Singapore manufactured products, the quotations used are ex-factory prices. The weight for each commodity item is proportional to the value of its total supply or availability in the domestic market in 2022.

The 2023-based series is compiled using the 'modified Laspeyres' formula where the weight reference period of 2022 preceded the price reference period of 2023.
