Gender Parity Index For Total Net Enrolment Rate
Gender parity index for total net enrolment rate refers to the ratio of female's total net enrolment rate to male's total net enrolment rate for a given level of education. Data pertains to resident population (i.e. Singapore citizens and permanent residents) enrolled in public and private education institutions.
Highest Qualification Attained
Refers to the highest grade or standard a person has passed or the highest level where a certificate, diploma, or degree is awarded. The Singapore Standard Educational Classification is used to classify persons by highest qualification attained.
Literacy Rate
Refers to the proportion of population who are able to read with understanding (e.g. a newspaper). It is derived based on information as reported in household surveys, as well as administrative data. Persons whose literacy is not known from surveys or administrative records are excluded from the computation of literacy rate.
Mean Years of Schooling
Refers to the years of education a person received on average.
Pupil-Teacher Ratio
Pupil-teacher ratio refers to the average number of pupils per qualified teacher for a given level of education. A qualified teacher is one who has at least the minimum academic qualifications required for teaching their subjects at the relevant level. Data pertains to students and teachers from public and private educational institutions.
Total Net Enrolment Rate
Total net enrolment rate refers to the total number of students of the official age group for a given level of education who are enrolled in any level of education, expressed as a percentage of the corresponding population. Data pertains to resident population (i.e. Singapore citizens and permanent residents) enrolled in public and private education institutions.
